The playground replacement project at McKenzie Park, located at 330 Quarry Road, in Comox, is now complete.

The new playground features slides, climbing features and a ReviWheel Spinner designed for children ages 2 to 12. Thanks to the Comox Valley Lions Club, the playground features rubberized surfacing to support the accessibility to the space.

“On behalf of the Town of Comox, I would like to thank the community for their support and contributions to making this new playground a reality,” said Comox Mayor Nicole Minions. “We also extend our gratitude to the staff and crews who worked hard and revitalized the space quickly, so the neighbourhood could get back to enjoying this park with the new amenities. Investing in our children is one of the best investments we can make and this playground will serve us well into the future.”

“We are proud of the funding support that we provided to this playground. It will create a neighbourhood space that is more accessible and supports the community’s needs and wishes,” said Nancy Owens, president of the Comox Valley Lions Club.

The Comox Valley Lions Club contributed $44,000 to this community initiative.

The playground at McKenzie Park is now open to the public and work to complete the accessible walkway, along with additional picnic tables and benches, will be completed in the fall. To view photos of the new space and park, visit .
