If you've always wanted to sing in a choir but haven't the time, Letz Sing Community Choir offers an opportunity to both practice and perform for a good cause during May.
This short course begins Monday with practices on following Mondays, cumulating in a fundraiser performance concert May 29.
This event supports local youth with scholarships to attend the Power of Hope Summer Camp, a non-religious organization that empowers youth through the arts.
During the weekly singing sessions leading up to the concert, we will learn some new songs, dust off some old favourites, as well as focusing on creating harmony, developing breath and voice. All songs, chants and rounds will be taught in the oral tradition of call and response by director Tina Filippino.
Practices are at 7:30 p.m. at the Cumberland United Church at First and Penrith in Cumberland on Mondays (May 2, 9, 16 and 23) with a dress rehearsal May 26 and the grand finale concert May 29.
This will be a fun, short-term commitment which, in the end, benefits the youth in our community. Come sing with us. All voices are welcome.
