Indigenous elders to speak at Courtenay Library

Part of Vancouver Island Regional Library’s Indigenous Voices initiative

Vancouver Island Regional Library’s Courtenay branch is getting set to host elders Pam Moore and Dianne MacLean as part of VIRL’s Indigenous Voices initiative. On Sunday, Jan. 28, from 2–3 p.m., visit the Courtenay branch to hear about the elders’ stories, their work, and to share refreshments.

“Indigenous Voices is an important part of our commitment to reconciliation for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous members of our community,” said VIRL’s executive director Rosemary Bonanno. “The events being organized across our system are wonderful opportunities for people to learn from the lived experiences of the Elders, and to come away with a deeper understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and stories.”

The event on Jan. 28 is the first of a series of programs by our Elders at the Comox Valley library branches. More details will be provided soon.
