Hornby Island Arts Council has been successful in receiving funding from the Co-operatives Limited and the Hornby Island Co-op for their Community Spaces Grant to build an interpretive trail.
The $71,000 in funding will allow Hornby Arts to work collaboratively with the K’ómoks First Nation Elders and the community to design and build this first phase of the community trail.
“Our first trail leading to the Art Centre will focus on highlighting our rich First Nations history and will feature elements of history, art, and recognition of our indigenous plants and animals,” said Sheila Morissette, Hornby Arts acting board chair, in a press release. “Hornby Arts is delighted to receive this support from the Hornby Island Co-op as well as support from the local community.
