It’s exciting times here in Union Bay, and I feel privileged to have been on the Union Bay Improvement District board as trustee for the past three years and seeing just how far we have come in such a short period of time.
Since I was first elected as a UBID trustee, the board has made significant strides towards the future improvements in our community. For the first time, in the last election, the landowners gave us a clear majority to make positive decisions for our future.
We have negotiated and signed an excellent water agreement with Union Bay Estates, which will continue to benefit the future of Union Bay for many years.
Work is now underway with the development of Union Bay Estates, which will bring additional taxes and fees to UBID, which will benefit the Landowners of Union Bay financially and help keep our parcel taxes down as low as we can.
We have negotiated four acres of land for our new water filtration plant and over two acres for a new fire hall for only $1 each parcel, saving Union Bay landowners over $1 million in estimated land values.
We will complete the new water filtration plant system (as mandated by Island Health) by the end of this year.
We have completed a Water System Assessment and Emergency Response Plan; as well as negotiated with Island Timberlands a third party independent study in order to provide more protection for our Langley Lake watershed and continue to do so.
We are also in the process of rebuilding our Fire Department and planning for a new fire hall.
To continue moving forward for the future of Union Bay, I am seeking your vote for another term.
