Spirits of the West Coast Art Gallery (2926 Back Road, Courtenay), is having its annual Christmas Food Bank Drive, and the gallery pledges to match donations to the Comox Valley Food Bank up to a total value of $5,000.

As well, one lucky donor will win a gift bag valued at more than $250.

Spirits of the West Coast Art Gallery invites you to take part in its “Small Acts, Big Impacts” Food Bank Drive & Fundraiser to collect monetary donations, non-perishable foods, and essential items to assist families and children in our community.

From now until Dec. 30 bring your monetary and non-perishable food donations to Spirits of the West Coast Art Gallery, Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. E-transfers are also being accepted at info@spiritsofthewestcoast.com. Make sure to add notation “Comox Valley Food Bank” along with your full name and phone number to be entered into our draw.

Alternatively, you can donate directly to the Comox Valley Food Bank via e-transfer to comoxvfb@shaw.ca with the notation “Spirits of the West Coast” as well as your name, phone number and address for receipt mailing and draw entry. The need is great, and no donation is too small.

“While any donation is gratefully appreciated, we encourage our community to make monetary donations, big and small,” said Sarah Bergeron of Spirits of the West Coast Art Gallery, in a press release. “Food banks have close partnerships with many grocery stores and receive significant deals on food in comparison to the average consumer. By donating financially, your money stretches that much further, and also allows the food bank to buy healthier fresh food options for those in need.

In addition to supporting your local community, each contributor will be entered into a draw for a gift bag valued at more than $250, made up of Northwest Coast Indigenous gifts and jewellery. The lucky winner will be drawn on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.

This food bank drive and fundraiser runs in conjunction with the gallery’s current exhibition and sale “T’ŁALIS – Pushing Boundaries” which is on display until the end of the year. Admission is free and everyone is welcome!
