The Comox Valley’s favourite petting farm is set to open its gates for the summer.

On Monday, June 10, the Town of Comox Hands On Farm located at Filberg Park will reopen for the season. Bring your friends and family to visit and learn about a variety of farm animals, including goats, sheep, bunnies, chickens and more.

The Hands On Farm is an accessible facility located at 61 Filberg Rd., Comox, and is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Aug. 18. Admission rates are $6 for one to three people, $10 for four to six people, and $40 for a summer family pass. Group rates are available for hosting events, including birthday parties, school groups and daycare field trips. Donations will be accepted, with all proceeds going towards the general upkeep of the farm and to offset the costs of caring for our animals.

“The Comox Community Centre welcomes the public, volunteers and summer campers to enjoy the magic of the Hands On Farm this summer,” said Amy Bauman, recreation supervisor. “Our variety of summer camps at Filberg Park and Hands On Farm are perfect for children who are interested in learning about our farm friends and enjoying a summer at the park.”

Volunteer opportunities

The farm is also looking for volunteers to lend a helping hand this summer. Volunteers gain valuable hands-on experience in animal care, feeding, and yard and barn maintenance. Hands On Farm offers flexible summer volunteer hours and an unforgettable farm experience. Volunteering opportunities are offered between June and August to those 13 years and older.

For user group bookings, volunteer positions and any other information about the petting farm, please contact farm supervisor, Paige Negenman, at Farmer1@comox.ca or call 250-339-FARM (3276). Throughout the summer, follow us on social media for exciting updates and special events, or check out the news on the Town’s website at comox.ca/HOF.
