After establishing roots in the Comox Valley, the local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers is looking for new members and is aiming to pass along information about the dangers of impaired driving.
The chapter is hosting its annual general meeting at 6:30 on Monday, June 3 at the Old House Hotel and Spa at 1730 Riverside Lane in Courtenay.
The chapter has been in the Comox Valley for four years and its mission is to stop impaired driving (drinking and drugged) and to support victims of this violent, preventable crime.
The meeting will serve both as an introduction to potential members to explore the work MADD does and an opportunity for volunteers to join the organization, gain new skills or draw upon experience to fulfil opportunities available within the chapter.
These opportunities include: fundraising/event planning co-ordinator; social media/marketing manager; volunteer co-ordinator; victims service manager and RCMP/school liaison.
The event is free and open to the public; snacks and coffee/tea will be provided.
