Comox Legion’s Beaufort Ave. Pub clients support Comox Valley charities

On Feb. 7, the Comox Legion Branch 160 members donated $30,000 to various local community organizations across the Comox Valley.

The money was raised by volunteers who host a 50/50 and meat draw on Friday and Saturday nights at the Beaufort Avenue Pub.

The following community organizations were among those that from the Comox Legion funds distribution:

• CV Marine Rescue Society ($1,000)

• VI Society for Adaptive Snowsports ($1,500)

• Comox Valley Food Bank ($2,500)

• Red Cross ($500)

• Scouts ($1,000)

Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society ($1,000)

• Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society - MARS ($750)

• Comox Valley Hospice Society Hospice ($1,500)

Navy League of Canada - Cadets ($1,000)

The Views ($2,000)

Glacier View Lodge ($2,000)

You Are Not Alone - YANA ($1,000)

Eureka Support Society ($1,000)

“The Legion is looking for people to help get involved with this and other events in order to raise money for the community and are also looking for more local organizations who want to collaborate to host events in the future,” said manager

Emma Whanstall. “We have a fantastic event space here at the Legion that can host fundraisers, including catering with our commercial kitchen and bar. We’re more than old guys drinking beer! If you have an event coming up, please do think of us.

“A huge thank you to our volunteers including Bob, Gerry and Val who put the event together and made this possible by donating their time and energy.”
