MIKI鈥橲IW M茅tis Association and the Indigenous Women鈥檚 Sharing Society are presenting the third 鈥淐omox Valley Spirit Walk鈥� from Simms Park through downtown Courtenay as part of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day 2023.
They are encouraging people who want to participate to wear orange to remember Indigenous children and families affected by Indian residential schools.
Opening ceremonies will begin at 11 a.m. - Simms Millennium Park at 50 鈥� 5th Street. A march through downtown Courtenay will follow.
No pre-registration required. Participants can drop in anytime between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to register, receive a map and walk the route, learning along the way. (Walk will take approximately 30 minutes.)
