Island-based grocer Quality Foods got the nod as Business of the Year when the 17th annual Business Excellence Awards were handed out Jan. 26 at the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort.
Operators of two large grocery stores on the West Shore, one on View Royal’s Eagle Creek Village, the other in Langford, Quality Foods won out against fellow Victoria-area finalists Dodd’s Furniture & Mattress and Chemistry Consulting, and The Coulson Group from Port Alberni.
The sold-out event, hosted by Bruce Williams of CTV Vancouver Island and platinum sponsored by Black Press, saw businesses in a variety of categories honoured.
They included Sidney’s Bayshore Home Health (Health Care), ̨ÍåMMÂãÁÄÊÒ Heat Pumps (Trades) and Level Ground Trading (Small Business, less than 50 employees), as well as RingPartner (Entrepreneur), Empire Hydrogen Energy Systems (Green), Inn at Laurel Point and Telegraph Cove Resort (Hospitality) and Victoria Eye (Professional).
Also winning their categories were Salish Sea Foods (Aquaculture), Bailey Western Star Trucks (Automotive), GNB Builders (Construction/Development), The Nest Bistro (Food Establishment), Woodland Flooring (Wood Products/Forestry), Westholme Tea Company (Manufacturing), NYLA Fresh Thread (Retail), SEAMOR Marine (Technology) and Living Forest Oceanside Campground (Tourism).
