Social media is flooded with “May the fourth be with you” action today and even the Canadian federal government has jumped on board.
Transport Canada released recall #2017242 today, affecting some 10,000 All-Terrain Armoured Transport (AT-AT) vehicles or Imperial walkers.
The recall is labelled as ‘Inconsequential’ and reportedly affects the powertrain on the units.
“On certain All-Terrain Armoured Transport (AT-AT) walkers used by imperial ground forces, the central hydraulic system could fail in extreme cold temperatures, such as on planet Hoth or in Northern Canada,” reads the recall notice.
“This could impair laser cannon tracking, and affect the walker’s ability to maintain balance and could ultimately result in a crash causing injury to imperial troops. Correction: Under development. #Maythe4th.”

This is not the first time the federal government has had some fun online. On April Fools Day 2016 the federal government announced that Library and Archives Canada (LAC) declassified journals and military records of Canadian supersoldier James “Logan” Howlett.
In fact, several other federal departments joined in on the Star Wars Day fun todau including Parks Canada, Justice Canada, Statistics Canada and the Canadian Army.
