For 39 years, the Victoria Spring Home Show has offered locals easy access to contractors, landscapers and renovations experts – and, the popular event will return to the Pearkes Recreation Centre in Saanich this weekend.
Ten thousand people are expected to attend the three-day event, where a host of 120 exhibitors, from window and door suppliers to heating and cooling specialists to landscapers and solar panel salespeople, will showcase their services and products.
“It's basically an all-encompassing resource where people can come and make contacts, do some comparison shopping, see what's out there, get a feel for some of the different contractors and meet people in all the different industries that they might need for their projects,” said Darcy Hope, the president of Evergreen Exhibitions, which organizes the event and others like it.
Though the Home Show, which is among the biggest of its kind on the Island, is geared towards homeowners, everyone can take advantage of the low-pressure environment the event boasts.
“You're not walking into a showroom where you might feel like you are going to get bombarded by salespeople ... and you're also not just calling a company out of the blue and having them come to your house,” said Hope. “It's a very low-pressure environment. That's what people like about it.”
The event will offer in-booth demos and tutorials, and exhibitors are set to give away show specials, prizes, gift cards and baskets. Attendees can enter Evergreen Exhibitions' draw for a chance to win $1,500 to a building centre of the winner's choice.
Admission is free to the event, which takes place Friday, Feb. 21 from 1 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
