Logan Yanick of Courtenay finished two shots off the pace in the boys 14 & under division at the CJGA Nike Golf Junior Series/Stephen Ames Cup Qualifier, held March 12-13 at Hazelmere Country Club in Surrey.
Yanick was tied for sixth after an opening round 80 then shot a sparkling 74 on Sunday to finish in a three-way tie for second place at 154. He placed third overall after the retrogression.
Division winner Jordan Lu of Vancouver fired rounds of 79-73 to finish with an eight-over 152. Wind and rain plagued the golfers on Saturday, with conditions improving slightly on Sunday.
In the boys 15-19 division, Spencer McDougall of Comox shot rounds of 98-84 (182) to finish 15th, 33 shots back of winner Kevin Ko of Coquitlam.
