Water races planned at Comox Marina in mid September

Dragon boat sprints will be visible all day from Marina Park while music and food go ‘round

The public is invited to watch a dragon boat festival next weekendat Comox Marina Park.

The festival on Saturday, Sept. 16 will see dragon boaters racing 200 metre sprints along the coastline. There’s about two dozen teams registered, from across the Island as well as the mainland.

Local vendors, music and food trucks will be at Marina Park as well. The event starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.

Up to 20 paddlers will pile into each boat for the races. Teams will be made from people of all ages, including co-ed races.

The event is hosted by VI Paddling, a organization that connects Island folk who love paddlesports, by offering training, competition and community.
