VIDEO: Kelowna positioning itself as a top sports city

By 2026, the Okanagan could be home to a professional soccer and basketball team

A rowdy clan of Vancouver FC supporters waved their flags proudly throughout the CPL match as Vancouver FC and Cavalry FC played to a 0-0 draw in front of 6,281 fans at the Kelowna Apple Bowl.

The City of Kelowna is coming off of hosting the 2025 Montana's Brier, which brought thousands to the Okanagan area.

With the Memorial Cup coming up in 2026, it is only a matter of time before the area becomes a top-tier professional sports city.

In the latest Okanagan Sports Pulse video, Bowen Assman looks at two rising sports organizations, the Canadian Premier League (CPL) and the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), who may expand into the Okanagan, and analyzes when the move will happen.
