Spring football is in the air. For all of you that got a little teary eyed turning your gear in at the end of November this will be what the doctor ordered.
On May 14-15 the Comox Valley Raiders will be hosting their annual spring camp. Organizers say this year is even more exciting than previous years as UBC head coach Shawn Olson along with five position coaches will be on the scene to direct the camp. Returning special guest Angus Reid of the B.C. Lions will be back to dish out hits and his special brand of coaching.
Cost for the two-day event has been reduced this year to $60 and there will be an onsite concession with Raider dogs, cold beverages and Raiders wear.
It all takes place at Lewis Park. For registration information call 250-338-3815 or e-mail ipidsosn@shaw.ca. "Do not miss out on this football extravaganza," a Raiders' spokesperson said.
Reid is a veteran centre with the Lions who was born in Richmond and played college ball at SFU. He was a West Division all-star in 2004 and won the Grey Cup with the Leos in 2006.
Olson is in his first season as head coach of the UBC Thunderbirds and is making his return to the campus where he starred as a quarterback from 1996-2000. The Surrey native led the T-Birds to the 1997 Vanier Cup title.
