The Stanley Cup will be returning to Victoria to celebrate the 1925 Victoria Cougars win against the Montreal Canadiens.

The iconic Stanley Cup will be making its return to Victoria next year for the 100th anniversary of the Victoria Cougars taking the cup after a win against the Montreal Canadiens in 1925.

According to the Victoria Hockey Legacy Society, the cup will be making an appearance during the Century Celebration between March 29 and 30, a family festival commemorating the anniversary of the Victoria Cougars win a century ago.

"Earlier this year, the Victoria Hockey Legacy Society hosted Hockey Day in Canada, welcoming 20,000 people to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This event reinforced for us how beloved the sport is in Greater Victoria," noted a news release from the society. "One of the highlights, in addition to the chance to meet hockey alumni like Lanny McDonald, Kevin Bieksa, Wendel Clark, Kirk McLean and Darcy Tucker, was the opportunity to view the Stanley Cup in person."

In 1925, the Western Canada Hockey League’s Victoria Cougars faced the NHL's Montreal Canadiens in a four-game series, and they ended up being the second B.C. team to take the Stanley Cup. They were the last non-NHL team to win the Cup. .

The March 2025 event is expected to include a public skate session on artificial ice, a songwriting competition, a gala and the visit from the legendary trophy.
