On April 19 the Crown Isle Ladies club played a game called Shambles. Each member of the foursome hits a tee shot and the best drive is selected. From that spot, each player hits her own ball to finish out the hole. There鈥檚 a point system and the team with the highest number of points is the winner.
The team of May Mitchell, Donna Wilson, Pat Johnson and Linda Glanville had 1st low net, while 2nd low net went to team members Dee Horie, Cheryl Davies, Jan MacFarlane and Brenda Barrigan.
KPs were won by Pat Palmers (#7) and Mathilde Schneider (#16). The Par 5 Par Pot was shared by Pat Johnson (#5) and Joanne Meyers (#10). Thirteen birdies were recorded.
An excellent luncheon immediately followed the game. The group welcomed guest speaker Courtenay golfer Brian Benedictson, who has been on the Canadian Pro Tour for five years.
Along with describing a program for getting the most out of your golf season, Brian demonstrated his invention called the Swinkey, a golf training tool designed for total game improvement. Crown Isle鈥檚 director of instruction, Bert Jaeger, offered golf tips and outlined services available to members.
Pin Day
Under beautiful sunny but cool skies, the Comox Golf Club Tuesday Ladies played 18 holes of golf on April 19.
It was Pin Day and the lucky winner was Mary Suchla with a 71 net. Other low net winners were: Barb
Dixson, Karen Vanetta, Barb Buchanan, Amber Dufour, Marg Walker and June Fraser.
Hole prize winners were: Karen Vanetta, Sue Leakey, Louise Luster, Marg Walker, Phyllis Taylor and Brenda Pearson.
