The U14 Riptide girls soccer lost its semi-final game in a recent road match against Victoria South. The teams met twice during the season, with each winning a game.
The semi started strong with both sides battling at every opportunity. At minute 12, Victoria struck first with a through ball that split the Riptide defence onto a running striker who took a shot and scored. The home side struck again in the 27th minute to make it 2-0.
With some encouraging words from the Riptide coaching staff, it was clear the game wasn’t over. As the second half started, both sides were not letting up. Striker Alexandra Vinzenz pocketed a beautiful left foot shot that ignited the Riptide team and fans. The cow bell and air horn were in full effect. With 10 minutes left, the Riptide pressed and pressed, but couldn’t finish the way they wanted. The game ended 3-1.
The Riptide team, coaches and manager would like to thank all parents and fans who came out and supported us this year.
