Riders enjoy gymkhana, barrel racing

 

 

 

The North Vancouver Island Horse Association held a successful gymkhana on Sunday with 37 riders. The weather was cooperative with no rain all day. The top riders in their classifications were:

39 & holding: Hi Point Carole Herman on Justin; Reserve Kathleen Worth on Ryder.

Senior: Hi Point Emily Davidson on Skye; Reserve Angelina Risi on Cleo.

Junior: Hi Point Meaghan Bergman on Little; Reserve Hannah Bergman on Sassy.

PeeWee: Hi Point Corbin Gerdun on Lady; Reserve Jasmine Taylor on Goldie.

Meanwhile, the Island Barrel Racing Club held another race in Oyster River. Linda Innes hosted the race Saturday at her arena on Fosgate Road.

Racers from all over the Island competed, with local riders dominating:

PeeWee: 1st  Page Noble, 2nd Ashlyn Wade.

Open: 1D 1st  Amanda Yasinski, 2D 1st Bridget Irwin, 3D 1st Leslie Pederson, 4D 1st Donna Jagr.

Junior: 1D 1st Hillary Turple, 2D 1st Hannah Bergman, 3D 1st Meaghan Bergman, 4D 1st Morgan Davis.

Senior: 1D 1st Leslie Pederson, 2D 1st Leslie Pederson, 3D 1st Kathleen Worth, 4D 1st Donna Jagr.
