Formerly known as the Brick House Betties, the newly assembled North Island Roller Derby (NIRDS) played their first two home games on the night of June 15 at the Comox Valley Curling Centre.

The club's debut featured matches against two teams from Victoria. In the first game, the Comox Valley team fell to the Brawl Pushers Mashup with a score of 199 to 122. However, they made a strong comeback in the second game, defeating the Margarita Villains 135 to 115.
