The Mount Washington Ski Club is hosting the Teck K1 (11 to 12 year olds) Provincials Ski Race on March 18-20, with 225 racers expected to compete.
Athletes and coaches attending this race will travel great distances to be at Mount Washington where
the course conditions are perfect and the snowfall immense with a mid-mountain base of 570cm.
The Mount Washington Ski Club will host athletes from Whitewater Nelson, Fernie, Whistler,
Kimberley, Grouse Mountain, Seymour Mountain, Cypress, SunPeaks, Apex Alpine, Silver Star, Big
White, Red Mountain, Panorama, and Revelstoke.
The Mount Washington Teck K1 Provincials is a crucial race for many athletes as top placements qualify for Team Canada going forward and racing in the Sierra Wireless Whistler Cup in
April. The Sierra Whistler Cup is the world’s largest ski event for 11-14 year olds and is organized by the Whistler Mountain Ski Club and hosted by Whistler Blackcomb.
The Mount Washington K1 Ski team has had an incredible season so far and has qualified six racers for the K1 Provincials to be held on their home turf and all six are in the running for podium placements.
The Mount Washington contingent for this race includes; Keegan McCooey, Maya Nymann, Logan Frame, Kole Harle, Robbie Yelland and Liam Gilchrist.
