Kieran Nilsen of the Mount Washington Ski Club is no different than many young athletes participating in sport these days.  As part of a fundraising effort for the Mount Washington, Nilsen ventured out into his neighbourhood to sell the required number of raffle tickets provided by the BC Alpine Ski Association as part of their annual fundraising drive.

The grand prize was a 2011 GMC Terrain vehicle. The draw was province-wide, with the odds of someone winning locally was considered slim to none.

When Nilsen approached Georgina Pike`s home – a few doors down from his own – she was only too thrilled to buy four tickets – except for the fact Nilsen was sold out and she could only buy his last three. Which she did.

"Much to Kieran's surprise and the delight of Georgina, the Mount Washington Ski Club learned that someone from Comox – Georgina Pike – had won the grand prize," a MWSC spokesperson said.

"Congratulations to Georgina for the incredible win and to Kieran who, like many young athletes his age, supports the efforts of his ski club and fellow athletes by participating in fundraising drives."
