The CVMHA Courtenay Legion Pewee Tier II Chiefs were in action this past weekend with a home game against Victoria Ice Hawks and an away game against the Oceanside Generals.

On Saturday the Chiefs were up against the Ice Hawks at Sport Centre No. 1. Starting the scoring early with a shot from the point through traffic was defenceman Dawson Gillespie.  Midway through the second period, the Chiefs went up by two with a goal from James Garret (assisted by Hayden Leach).

In the third period, the floodgates opened and the boys banged in three goals in three minutes from Bryce Stromquist (assisted by AP Kane O鈥橞rian), Caleb Dolman (from Garret) and Nathan Doleman (from AP Adam McKillican and Gillespie).

Rounding out the scoring was another blast from the blue line by a defenceman, this time veteran Patrick Smalley (assisted by Garret).  Solid between the pipes for three periods of play was netminder Quinn Fogtmann.

On Sunday the Chiefs were in Oceanside for a tough game against a team ranked much higher than themselves. With end-to-end action throughout the game, the Chiefs managed to hold their own and came out with a win.

Solid on defence were Nolan Baker, Kayden Dion and Braden Baker.  Veterans Ben Besplug and Austin Pigeon worked hard in the corners to create scoring chances with help from Trevor Pruden and Braden Callis. Goalie Liam Tutte made key saves to pave the way for the victory.
