For the second year in a row, the Isfeld senior girls’ basketball team has made the provincial tournament.

It’s been an impressive run for the Ice so far this season, having not lost to any Island team north of Victoria.

This year’s playoff run started in Campbell River, two weeks ago, where they won the North Island Final with a 63-49 victory over arch-rival Alberni.

The Island tournament was held at Saint Michaels University School in Victoria over the Feb. 17-18 weekend. Isfeld came out quickly in their first game, rolling over Esquimalt 71-23. The semifinal was against an extremely tough Reynolds squad out of Victoria. In a back-and-forth tilt, Reynolds prevailed 61-41 with the final score not indicative of the overall closeness of the game. Isfeld had to win two games on Saturday and did so in convincing fashion - 63-25 over Stelly’s from Saanich and against Alberni 65 - 30.

Isfeld finished third and will continue their season at the provincial tournament, Feb. 28 - March 2 at the Langley Event Centre.
