The Isfeld Ice senior boys basketball team concluded the first half of the season with an 85-57 win over the Wildcats of Wellington, Tuesday at home.
The win improves Isfeld’s league record to 2-0 and their overall record to 12-0.
With the score 16-13, the Ice put the clamps on defensively and went on a 21-2 run to blow the game open. Isfeld cruised to a 48-24 halftime lead.
After a week of struggling offensively from the three-point line, Isfeld hit on seven threes in the first half and 12 for the game, right on their average for the season.
Aiden McDonald led the way in the three-point barrage, hitting seven for the game for a total of 25 points. Thaskani Mtawali scored 29 points and his brother Temwa added 12 points.
The Ice is off until Jan. 8 when the team plays the Ballenas Whalers in Parksville.
They then compete in the Totem tournament in Port Alberni from Jan. 10-12.
