Day one of the B.C. high school track and field championships is in the books.
The first day of the three-day championships concluded on Thursday at Langley’s McLeod Athletic Park under grey skies and cool conditions.
Both the junior boys and junior girls 1500m steeplechase events were contested as well as the 400m and 1500m heats for all age groups (Grade 9, junior and senior), except for in the 1500m as both the Grade 8 boys and Grade 8 girls had timed finals.
The final event of the day on the track were the heats for all three age groups in the 4x100 relays.
In the field, the Grade 8 girls high jump was held while the Grade 8 boys competed in the high jump and the triple jump.
Junior girls field events included triple jump and shot put while the junior boys participated in the long jump and discus events.
In the senior division, the senior girls did discus and long jump while the senior boys javelin competition was held.
Friday’s highlights include both the 100m and 400m finals and the 4x100 relay finals, among other events.
