The Comox Valley Glacier Kings Junior A Hockey team slid into third spot in the North division of the VIJHL with two wins this past weekend.

Heading into the hockey weekend (Sept. 20, 21, and 22) the Yetis had a one win, one loss and one tie record to total three points.

The Glacier Kings treated the hometown crowd to an exciting game as they defeated the Oceanside Generals 6 to 3 on Sept. 20 at the CV Sports Centre. The Generals opened the scoring at 17:45 of the first period but in less than a minute later, the Yeti's reply with a snipe from Matias Aljah assisted by his twin brother Alexandre Aljah.

The second period would see the Generals and the Glacier Kings trade goals back and forth as Ryan Harris score twice with both assists going to James Vietch and one asset to Matias Aljah. The Glacier Kings would close out the second period with an added insurance goal by Brendin Cronin from the Muxlow brothers, Preston and Porter.

The only scoring came in the third for the Glacier Kings as Tegan Clayton put it between the pipes after receiving a pass from Matias Alijah and Tyler Durrant.

On Sept. 21, the Glacier Kings travelled to Kerry Park to take down the Islanders 3 to 2. The Yetis were a bit slow getting out of the gate as the Islanders quickly slipped ahead scoring two goals before the end of first period. After regrouping, the Yetis did not look back as they shut the Islander scoring down.

The Glacier Kings would make their marks on the score sheet in the second period from Alexandre Aljah assist to Teagan Clayton and Brayden Candy. The third period gave Jackson Bostock the opportunity to make his mark with assists to Jake Gislason and Matias Aljah.

The next week, they maintained their third place position on Wednesday Sept. 25, despite losing in overtime to Port Alberni.

The Glacier Kings will be travelling to Campbell River to face the Storm this Friday. Then they will be home at the Comox Valley Sport Centre to host the Saanich Predators on Saturday.
