The Canucks regained the lead midway through the second period, when DeBrusk tipped in a point shot from captain Quinn Hughes (returning from a lengthy absence due to injury) on the power play for his 23rd of the year. The lead was short-lived as Huberdeau tied things up at 13:58 with a shorthanded marker and two minutes later tallied again on the power play.
He fired a shot high to the short side above Lankinen’s shoulder, and it took some time before the other players on the ice realized the puck was in the net. Huberdeau now has 24 goals on the season.
At the 13:16 mark of the third, ̨ÍåMMÂãÁÄÊÒ converted a rebound off a point shot for his 14th of the year and third in his last four games.
Wolf made big saves off ̨ÍåMMÂãÁÄÊÒ and Conor Garland in overtime to send the game to the shootout.
NOTES: Vancouver defenceman Elias ̨ÍåMMÂãÁÄÊÒ played just four minutes before leaving with an injury after being elbowed in the head by Calgary’s Connor Zary… Hughes played nearly 30 minutes for Vancouver… The Canucks begin a three-game homestand Saturday (7 p.m.) against the Chicago Blackhawks, while the Flames host the Colorado Avalanche on Friday.
