Former national team member returns to coach Mount Washington Ski Club

Mathieu Leduc is coming home.

The former Mt. Washington Ski Club (MWSC) member, who was raised in Comox, is returning to the MWSC as its new technical director and coach. A former member of the Canadian national ski team and a celebrated athlete within the alpine skiing community, Leduc brings a wealth of experience to the club’s competitive skiing programs.

Leduc retired from professional skiing in 2018, after a distinguished career. During his time with Alpine Canada, Leduc specialized in ski cross, representing Canada at the highest levels of the sport, including World Cup competitions and world championships. Known for his dedication and resilience, Leduc’s career highlights include numerous top-10 finishes on the World Cup circuit, demonstrating his skill and tenacity.

“Returning to Mt. Washington Ski Club feels like coming full circle,” said Mathieu Leduc. “This club was a foundational part of my skiing journey, and I am thrilled to contribute to its future. I look forward to working closely with head coach John Trimmer, the coaching team, and with our athletes, sharing the experiences that helped shape my career on the international stage.”

Trimmer expressed his enthusiasm about Leduc’s new role.

“We are incredibly fortunate to welcome Mathieu back to our club,” he said. “His international experience and personal achievements in ski racing bring a level of expertise that will undoubtedly inspire and elevate our athletes. Mathieu’s passion for skiing and his commitment to excellence are exactly what we need to advance our program.”

In his new role, Leduc aims to enhance the training environment by incorporating innovative coaching techniques and fostering a culture of excellence and determination. His experience on the world stage provides him with unique insights into the physical and mental preparation required to compete at elite levels.
