The Isfeld senior boys’ basketball team tipped off their season in Victoria this weekend at Royal Bay Secondary. The Ice picked up their first win of the season against Vic High.

Vic High struggled with the defensive pressure of the Ice and the Ice picked up their first win of the season.

The second game was a barn-burner against the rival Vanier Towhees, where Isfeld’s defence took control once again and downed the birds late in the fourth quarter.

Isfeld advanced to the finals where they took on the talented host team the Royal Bay Ravens. It was a hard-fought battle the whole game, but Isfeld pulled away in the fourth quarter to win their first tournament of the season.

“Overall a great start for the young squad who look to compete against the NDSS Islanders at home this Tuesday Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at Isfeld Secondary,” said coach Blake Tobacca.

The Ice host their Ice Breaker Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Isfeld opens the tournament against the Parkland Panthers at noon on Friday.

“The boys are looking forward to Comox Valley basketball enthusiasts coming out to watch some entertaining basketball this week at Isfeld Secondary,” said Tobacca.
