Comox Valley teams shine at rugby 7s tourney in Kamloops; fundraiser set

The largest junior rugby 7s tournament in Canada returned to Kamloops in high demand this year, with team spots having sold out for the first time since its post-pandemic return.

Attracting teams from Vancouver Island to Saskatchewan, the tournament had doubled in size compared to last year. Rapids Rugby took 121 athletes, coaches and managers to BC Rugby Kamloops 7’sfor a great weekend of high-performance competition. Comox Valley Rapids Rugby had nine teams competing for top spots in the province with the U18 Boys, U14 Boys and U14 Girls carrying away silver medals.

“All our teams exhibited great sportsmanship and awesome club spirit, but the best part was watching all the athletes making amazing memories,” said Andrew Stigant, in a press release. “We would like to thank our coaches, managers and volunteers wholeheartedly for their commitment to our players and the sport. We truly appreciate the support of our community and the outpouring of love and sponsorship for our Athletes.

Rapids Rugby World Cup Final fundraiser

Rugby fans from throughout the community are invited to join the Comox Vally Rugby players and coaches for the men’s Rugby World Cup championship game.

Get ready to experience the thrill and excitement of the Rugby World Cup finals on a large screen while supporting the growing Comox Valley Rapids Rugby Club.

The match takes place on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Comox Valley Curling Club, 4835 Headquarters Road. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. with game time starting at noon.

Cost is $25 per person.

This event promises an unforgettable day filled with intense rugby action, food, and camaraderie. Support the Rapids by coming out to watch the world’s best rugby players battle it out while enjoying a chili lunch & more.
