The Comox Valley Road Runners’ annual Jingle Pot Run is on the horizon.

The annual event raises funds for the Comox Valley Food Bank, and is always a resounding success.

Entry is $10/individual; $15/parent and child; $20/family.

The run is open to members and non-members, runners and walkers. There are two courses this year; the 7.3-kilometre Forest Loop and 3.5-kilometre combined Copland/Seal Loop.

Participants are encouraged to dress up, and Santa will be on hand to visit with the kids.

Please note that dogs are not welcome at the event, so please leave your fur buddies at home.

Last year’s event raised over $3,000 for the food bank. The club has donated over $10,000 to food banks since starting The Jingle Bell Run. To register online, visit , or register on-site from 9:15-9:45 a.m.

The event starts at 10 a.m.

Please park at the Bates Road parking lot (carpool if possible). The trails are marked with sawdust and red bows. Dress festively. Santa will be there!

AGM highlights

A record number of club members attended the Comox Valley Road Runners (CVRR) annual general meeting, Nov. 19.

The run club, which was founded in 1980 and is entirely volunteer-based, includes runners of all abilities and types including trail, track and road. With an inclusive vision “To be a central body in the Comox Valley for running and running events, where people socialize in a fun, welcoming and safe environment that is inclusive of runners of all levels”, the club has grown to include 353 members. Although love for running is the common denominator between members, they are also passionate about giving back to the community.

The CVRR hosts multiple running events throughout the year, some of which are fundraisers for non-profit organizations. The Cumby, a day of multiple trail races hosted each spring by CVRR, raised a total of $43,500 for the Cumberland Community Forest Society (CCFS) this year alone. The date for the 2024 Cumby is May 4. The 5th Street Mile, which kicks off the Courtenay Canada Day Parade each year, is a free event and had over 250 registrants this year. In memory of Fred Bigelow, the Fred 100k Challenge is held in November of each year and is a fundraiser for both CCFS and United Riders of Cumberland (UROC). The CVRR Club has donated over $185,000 to CCFS cumulatively. Check out cvrr.ca for a complete list of races and events hosted.

CVRR Club members also benefit from great weekly offerings such as Tuesday night track, pool running, Thursday night trail runs and group weight training sessions. To learn more about CVRR or to become a member, visit cvrr.ca
