The Comox Valley Pickleball Association hosted its seventh annual Indoor Pickleball Tournament on May 4-5 at the Wing Fitness and Community Center in Comox.
The CVPA tournament is very popular and player registration filled all positions in a matter of minutes. Players from other parts of Vancouver Island and the mainland attended the event.
Pickleball is fun, social and friendly. It is a combination of badminton, ping pong and tennis played on a court about the same size as a badminton court. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn but can develop into a fast-paced, competitive game.
There are several health benefits, including improved balance, hand-eye co-ordination and flexibility, improved heart health lowering the risk of heart disease, maintaining healthy bones, joints and muscles, boosting mood and mental health which can help reduce anxiety, depression and stress.
Pickleball helps to meet new friends and stay socially engaged by having fun, laughing and making new connections.
