Bev Byerley, a member of Sunnydale Golf Club, won the Champion of Championships at March Meadows on June 6.
The golf championship is run by the Zone 6 British Columbia Golf Association for women golfers who have won the gross and net Club Championship at their respective golf clubs. Zone 6 covers 23 golf clubs from the northern part of Vancouver Island and includes the southerly March Meadows in Lake Cowichan.
Byerley struggled on the very tricky nine-hole course at March Meadows with a score of 47 on the front nine white tees and really started playing well on the back nine red tees with a score of 37.
Her total score of 84 was tied with the past Champion Karen Kloske of March Meadows, so they had a sudden death playoff on the par three first hole. Both players drove the green and Byerley putted out in two while Kloske missed her second putt.
