BC Snowboard Cross Team athletes continued their podium streak in the third and fourth events of the NorAm Tour in Mount Hood, Ore., last weekend.

After being the top qualifier on the first day and second fastest on the second, Comox rider Carle Brenneman had to settle with a ninth and a fifth after hard-fought battles in the final rounds.

Whistler rider Ziggy Cowan fought off the tight competition and stepped on the podium twice with two second-place finishes. Jade Critchlow from Kelowna continued to impress with two fourth-place finishes.

“I am extremely impressed with the whole team’s performance; we are seeing the younger athletes on the team with some positive results and showing a great deal of improvement,” said head coach Chris Nakonechny.

“We are looking forward to the next few races for continued improvement and success.”

Next up for the BC Team is the next stop on the busy NorAm Tour at Steamboat Springs, Colo. Cowan will be representing the team at the 2011 Winter X Games.
