Kelowna’s Gracie Graham, Comox Valley’s Morgan Jackson, North Vancouver’s Chloe Primerano and Team Canada won’t have the chance to win their third consecutive under-18 Women’s World Junior Championship.
On Saturday morning (Jan. 13), Canada lost 4-2 to Czechia in the semi-final in Zug, Switzerland.
Czechia took advantage of their few opportunities in the game as they won despite being out-shot 47-12 in the contest.
Primerano scored a powerplay goal in the game, assisted by Graham.
The North Vancouver native has been the talk of the tournament as she’s collected 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in five games.
Jackson has been outstanding as well, with five goals and three assists in five games.
For Graham, she’s been a point a game player as she has a goal and four assists.
The B.C. trio and Team Canada can still medal as they’ll be playing in the bronze medal game on Sunday, Jan. 14. They will be playing either the United States or Finland.
The last time Canada wasn’t in the gold medal game of this tournament was in 2018, when they won bronze.
