Dear editor,
Re: Lyle Pierce op-ed piece.
Is anyone else getting tired of hearing about halibut?
The whole issue is nothing more than two competing business interests (fishing lodge and charter vessel operators and commercial fishermen) arguing over the sharing of a reduced allowable harvest level for halibut.
For this sharing of the catch issue, our local candidates should limit their involvement to advocating for a principle-driven process that first and foremost protects the fish — keep politics out of it.
I for one would rather hear our candidates discuss issues such as the future of health care or how their parties intend to manage the economy and why.
