Dear editor,
Here we go again. We, the lowly taxpayers, are being abused by our governments and bullied by corporations.
Lannon forest, a large tract of forested Crown land about 45 acres and belonging to us, the people of B.C., was given to Crown Isle’s land corporation for $1 million.
Just recently, this land was cleared, the trees slaughtered and hauled away for saw logs.
Now the same company is charging us, the people and frustrated taxpayers, $4 million for a 15-acre piece of land to situate a new hospital on.
All this is done with the approval and encouragement of our governments.
I am extremely frustrated with the lack of fiscal responsibility by our governments and the bullying tactics by corporations. H. Ryan,
Courtenay
