Dear editor,

I support builder Muchalat Construction and their proposed townhouse development on Dingwall Avenue in East Courtenay.

I am a former home owner from Cruickshank Ave (located just a five-minute walk to the proposed building site) and am therefore familiar with this area.

For those unfamiliar with the neighbourhood, it is a combination of single family and duplex homes as well as two condo projects that provide affordable options for renters and owners.

When I read that a few neighbours to Dingwall were concerned about the proposed townhouse development, I wanted to help calm their fears by sharing my very positive dealings with Joe and Diane Formosa of Muchalat Construction.

Muchalat built my last two condominiums at Crown Isle, and just finished building my new family home in Comox. The high-quality construction that they will bring to the neighbourhood will be a benefit for those surrounding properties.

I’m certain this project will appeal to those home buyers/families who want to make a positive contribution to their surrounding neighbourhood. In my opinion, the design and finishing quality evident in Muchalat’s construction is superior to that offered by most other builders.

Upset people can resort to inflammatory language to articulate their concerns, but this proposed multi-family development is exactly what is needed to reduce urban sprawl and maintain agricultural land for its intended purpose.

The artists’ rendition shows a project that provides a wonderful combination of housing and green space.

I hope this letter will provide some comfort to those who have concerns about this development proposal. Joe and Diane Formosa have proposed a well-thought-out project that is poised to revitalize the area and raise the bar for future housing projects.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I am a real estate agent currently unlicensed while on maternity leave.

Andrena Koch-Schulte,

Comox Valley
