Some reasons to scrap HST, carbon taxes

Dear editor, Six reasons to get rid of the HST and the carbon dioxide taxes:

Dear editor,

Six reasons to get rid of the HST and the carbon dioxide taxes:

1. Government claim, that the HST it is good for business and economy is false. I fail to see how any increase in taxes can improve the economy. I am certain that lowering taxes attracts business and improves the economy.

2. People of the province would be better of paying less taxes (350$/family) and be able to spend their money on other purchases, which would stimulate the economy. In fact since there is no such thing as global warming we should get rid of CO2 taxes on gas immediately. Tourists would love it, economy would improve. And save the administration costs.

3. The NDP talks about better education, healthcare, pensions, etc; but they do not realize that the money to pay for all this has to be earned — not taken away from one group of people and distributed to others. That is a sure method of creating misery for everyone.

4. The B.C. government is trying to scare us, that if we vote the HST out, it will force us to return $1.6 billion that we got from the federal government. Obviously false: we already taxed this amount out of our citizens and we should have it ready. Our government knows about this HST fiasco for a long time. In addition they claim it will take several more months of collecting HST before they can restore the original system. So that should be no problem, if we have to return the money.

By the way I would like to know exactly where did the $1.6 billion went? Maybe it is still around.

5. One simple way to solve this whole problem would be lowering the HST to 10 per cent. We would pay almost the same taxes as before and the "administration cost" excuse and return of dollars would be gone, too. It is probably too late for this solution — I doubt the government will move on this fast enough.

6. Lower taxes would create more jobs. Do we want that?
