Recall process marginalizing democracy

Dear editor, OK, enough already. I find it hard to believe that while we see so many countries around the world struggling, suffering and fighting to establish some form of a democratic government, that we are involved in an action that flies in the face of our very own electoral process.

Dear editor,OK, enough already. I find it hard to believe that while we see so many countries around the world struggling, suffering and fighting to establish some form of a democratic government, that we are involved in an action that flies in the face of our very own electoral process. We are actually trying to undo what was done in an open, free and democratic election where our MLA became the choice of the electorate in the Comox Valley. There was no expectation at that time that a disgruntled minority would have the right to initiate a recall process for any frivolous reason. This is exactly what has happened and we should all be ashamed and concerned.Disgruntled voters are always there after an election. Your voices can be heard, you can freely express your concerns, and you can do that, all without any fear of reprisals or scorn. This defines the democracy we live in. The recall process marginalizes our democracy.Bernie Poole,Comox Valley
