LETTER - Workers’ Compensation Board puts onus of safety on those in harm’s way

Dear editor,

Effective as Workers’ Compensation Board often is, it was with considerable chagrin that I read the proposed solution to potential assault of city staff is to have staff become more sensitive to those who may threaten them.

An underling assumption seems to suggest that rather than expect any smidgen of responsibility or consequence for violent actions coming from perpetrators, we

shall rather educate the staff about the need to increase their understanding of the challenges of citizens who just can’t help themselves.
