LETTER - 6th Street Bridge will be an integral part of the city infrastructure

web1_220406-cvr-n-courtenay-brfs-1_1

Dear editor,

The 6th Street Bridge “current design” can and will become an integral connection in the alternate transportation routes in the city.

In Victoria, there is the Galloping Goose and the Lochside Trails but they were both separated by the Trans Canada Highway. The day that the “Switch Bridge” was opened it was like opening the flood gates on a river.

Now thousands of people use the bridge per day.

In Courtenay, all of downtown is on the west side of the river, now the east side will have a direct link without having to negotiate traffic on the 5th Street Bridge.

I have not seen the plans for the bridge, I just hope it is wide enough and with good trail connections to accommodate all the traffic now and into the future.

Larry Church,

Courtenay
