Dear editor,
Kudos to Mayor Paul Ives for re-evaluating the status (recent Town Planner recommendation of it becoming residential) of the Northeast Woods (District Lot 194) adjacent to the Comox-Lazo Wildlife Management Area, and taking the first steps to allow park status application to proceed for this treasured area.
Comox town council needs to listen and hear public response to such issues as well as look to maintain ecological reserves that cannot be replaced in our lifetime.
There are other areas within our town and Valley that would suit development better and not destroy a priceless, trailed, forested ecosystem that is used by many in our community.
A wise town council would be one that continues on this path of ensuring protection of this marvelous area right within our Town of Comox!
Hugh MacKinnon,
Comox
