Hugh’s got her vote

Dear editor,

Dear editor,

After reading a son’s accolades for his father and a glowing tribute to this honest, community-minded educator, organizer, and volunteer, I began to consider who would, in my opinion, be the best candidate to follow in the footsteps of the honest, community-minded council member whose seat has become the focus of so much attention.

It’s a seat previously held by a member whose prime focus in many pursuits was the support and care of the children and youth who are, in turn, so familiar to Hugh MacKinnon himself.

Who better to be the successor in a role that is needed on Comox council to balance current strengths and to provide thoughtful insights into the decision-making for present and future considerations — whether regarding children and families, or an ecologically-sound growth plan for our community with protection of our green spaces — all very near and dear to Mr. MacKinnon.

I believe there really is only one choice to make on election day, only one person who might sit beside, rather than fill, the seat that can never really ever be filled by another.

J. Roelants,

Comox
