Dear editor,
Finally the City of Courtenay has made a good decision regarding the elimination of paid parking at our new hospital.
We now have Island Health whining and snivelling about parking lot maintenance and repairs, etc.
This is another attempt by the Vancouver Island bureaucracy to maintain a cash flow that they were not entitled to, to begin with. Bare in mind that this is the same bureaucracy that is costing the Comox Valley taxpayer over $100 million for a water treatment plant only made necessary because the health authority changed the rules governing water regulation.
We as taxpayers already pay enough taxes. We do not need the added burden and stress of finding enough money to pay for parking in a taxpayer-funded facility.
Let’s keep it together and eliminate pay parking at both the hospital and the college next door that was forced into this pay parking debacle.
