Slaughter, William George
1915 ~ 2004
William (Bill) George Slaughter passed away peacefully at Laurel Lodge on March 18th, 2004 at the age of 89.
“Snoosie” to his friends, Bill was born on March 16th, 1915 in Union (Cumberland) B.C. and was predeceased in 1999 by Agnes, his loving wife of 57 years. Bill is survived by his only son Bill (Doris) of Courtenay, granddaughters Krista (John) Ward of Courtenay, Lisa (Kevin) Gaumond of Comox and great-granddaughters Lindsay and Stephanie Ward of Courtenay. He loved “his girls” more than anything. Bill served faithfully on the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years, joining in 1936 and retiring in 1967 as an Honourary Life Member, and having attained the rank of Captain.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Laurel Lodge in Courtenay, their support and kindness have been remarkable. Thank you to the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department for always remembering Snoosie, that meant so much to him and the family. Thank you to the guys at the Courtenay Fire Hall, and to Fire Chief Terry Towle and retired Fire Chief Lawrence Burns for being there for him.
No service by request, interment at the Cumberland Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to PIERCY’S / MT. WASHINGTON FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORIUM.
