Bill, passed away peacefully, after a prolonged illness, on July 3, 2002 at Nanaimo Regional Hospital at the age of 94. Mr. Bellis lately of Courtenay, formerly of Mission, B.C. and Yellowknife N.W.T. was the son of the late Edward and Hannah Bellis of Lancaster, ON. He is predeceased by two wives: Josephine Driscoll and Dolores Gala; four sisters: Mabel MacIntosh, Alice Bellis, Mary Gougeon and Amy Ley; and one brother, Robert. He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Seguin, of Lancaster, ON; a brother-in-law, Eric Ley of Summerstown, ON; fourteen nieces and twelve nephews, including Keith Seguin of Courtenay and Dennis Driscoll of Nanoose. Bill enjoyed varying careers during his life time as a merchant mariner, machinist, diamond driller, prospector and contractor. He will be sadly missed by all. The family would like to thank all those who cared for and assisted Bill in recent years, including the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s and Nanaimo Regional Hospitals and in particular, his friends Al and Donna Vix who gave him much help. Funeral arrangements are by Cremation Interment will be at Mission, B.C. A Memorial Service will be held at Mt. Washington Funeral Chapel, 440 England Ave., Courtenay, on Wed., July 3 1, 2002, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart Fund would be appreciated.
